INTRODUCTION
B.E. 2559 (2016) marks the seventieth anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s Accession
to the Throne. During the course of the reign, His Majesty has been engaged in numerous activities and functions of
various kinds for the benefits of the Thai Nation and people.
Among these many-sided activities and functions, prime importance has always been given by His Majesty
to enhance the benefits and happiness of the Thai people which include practicing royal ceremonies, state ceremonies
and religious ceremonies, paying the visit to people in all parts of the country, performing charity and educational
functions, as well as granting audiences to Thai citizens and foreigners. Apart from activities performed by His Majesty,
the Royal Family as well as Privy Councillors are appointed to be representatives to discharge various functions of His
Majesty’s behalf.
These activities and functions of His Majesty constitute a state record and members of the public have
always expressed a desire to know about them. In response to the public interest thus shown, the Royal Household
Bureau has prepared and edited parts of activities and functions of His Majesty, the Royal Family and Privy Councillors
from January - November B.E. 2559 (2016) including illustrative photographs as recorded by Royal Household
photographers, into the present volume. By Royal Permission, it has been printed and distributed as the important
historical documents for various agencies and people in further studying.
